Kansetsu Waza
Joint Locking Techniques
Kansetsu-waza (joint-locking techniques) involve applying controlled pressure to an opponent’s joints. While joint locks can target many joints of the body, modern Judo permits kansetsu-waza only against the elbow. These techniques use the arms, legs, or knees to control the opponent’s joint and apply pressure in a controlled direction, limiting movement and rendering the opponent unable to continue – click the image to view a detailed breakdown of each technique.
