Nage Waza
Throwing Techniques
Throwing techniques, known as Nage-waza, form the heart of Judo practice. These techniques are designed to unbalance an opponent and project them to the mat using skill, timing, and control rather than strength alone. At the core of every successful throw are the principles of kuzushi (breaking balance), tsukuri (positioning), and kake (execution).
Judo throws are carefully structured and taught progressively, helping students develop coordination, movement, and confidence. Through consistent practice, judoka learn how to use leverage, body rotation, and proper grip to apply techniques safely and effectively.
More than just physical actions, throwing techniques reflect the true spirit of Judo — using maximum efficiency with minimum effort while maintaining respect and control at all times.
