Grappling Techniques – Osaekomi Waza, Shime Waza & Kansetsu Waza

Katame-waza (grappling techniques) are ground-fighting techniques used to control an opponent through pins, joint locks, and strangles. These techniques focus on balance, body control, and correct positioning rather than strength alone. In Judo, katame-waza allow a judoka to maintain control on the ground, limit an opponent’s movement, and achieve victory in a safe and disciplined manner.
