Hane Makikomi - Springing Wraparound Throw

Hane Makikomi is classified as Yoko Sutemi Waza (Side Sacrifice Technique) in Judo.

Hane Makikomi involves committing to the "Makikomi" element, fighting through resistance from your opponent trying to defend your initial Hane Goshi attack.

Here's a basic breakdown of how Hane Makikomi is typically executed:

  1. Grip: On the sleeve and high on the lapel.
  2. Kuzushi (Off-balance): Break your opponent's balance to the front corner and initially turn in for a Hane Goshi attack.
  3. Entry: As you rotate through, let go of the lapel and wrap it over the top of your opponent's arm. Keep pulling on the sleeve throughout.
  4. Execution: Continue to rotate through, keeping your opponent's body wrapped around yours, so as you fall, your opponent comes with you to finish the throw.

Hane Makikomi requires precise timing, coordination, and proper use of leverage through commitment to throwing your opponent even though they have defended against your initial attack.
